Indian Railways’ Eastern Railway zone has delivered a powerhouse performance in track maintenance and renewal during April–June, significantly enhancing safety and ride quality under the leadership of General Manager Milind Deouskar.
Closely supervised by Asansol Divisional Railway Manager Sangrah Maurya, engineering teams completed an impressive array of works in the busy commuter corridor:
22.655 Tr.Km Primary Rail Renewal
19.09 Tr.Km Primary Sleeper Renewal
18.302 Tr.Km Through Ballast Renewal
16 Through Turnout Renewals
Component upgrades included 21 New Web Switches, 23 Thick Web Switches, 33 Wing Crossings, 18 CMS Crossings, 3 Diamond Crossings, 47 Thick Web SEJs, and 2,643 welded rail joints. Additionally, 668,005 Elastic Rail Clips were greased, while 458.35 Tr.Km of plain track and 99 turnouts were tamped. Advanced Ultrasonic Flaw Detection was carried out over 1,441.72 Tr.Km, and 101.85 Tr.Km of rail de-stressing was completed to prevent summer buckling.
These figures mark a sharp improvement over previous years. Primary Rail Renewal nearly doubled from last year, while key metrics like sleeper renewal, switch renewals, SEJs, and USFD testing registered substantial gains.
