ESL Steel Limited celebrated Raksha Bandhan with 25 women beneficiaries engaged in jute-based livelihood activities under Project Jivika at the Jute Model Centre, Gidhtand (Hutupather), reaffirming its commitment to women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
The programme was organised under the company’s Employee Volunteering Programme. Durga Prasanna Panda, Factory Manager; Binod Kumar, Head–Safety & Sustainability; Rakesh Mishra, Manager–Public Relations & Stakeholder Management; and Kunal Daripa, Head–CSR, visited the centre, interacted with the beneficiaries and observed their jute production activities.
The CSR team highlighted Project Jivika’s focus on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and strengthening women-led enterprises. The beneficiaries shared their experiences, achievements and aspirations for expanding their businesses.
Ravish Sharma, CEO & Whole-Time Director, ESL Steel Limited, said Raksha Bandhan symbolises trust, care and enduring bonds, adding that Project Jivika seeks to extend this spirit to communities by creating pathways for women’s economic independence.
Basanti Devi, CEO, Jivika Srijan Shakti Producer Company Limited, emphasised collective entrepreneurship, stronger market linkages and collaboration to build sustainable opportunities for women.
The programme concluded with a Rakhi-tying ceremony, symbolising mutual respect and the strong bond between ESL Steel and the community.
