A portion of a residential block in Sector 12E partially collapsed during the forenoon, raising fresh concerns over the safety of residents living in structurally unsafe quarters. No casualties were reported.
BSL management said structural audits of residential blocks were conducted through NBCC by experts from NIT Patna as part of a comprehensive safety assessment. In the first phase, 169 blocks were declared unsafe for habitation, following which the Town Administration initiated the process of shifting occupants to safer accommodation.
According to BSL, repeated notices were served to occupants, while public notices were issued through newspapers and displayed at the affected quarters. Individual legal notices were also served, and interaction sessions with NIT Patna experts were organised to explain the structural risks and safety concerns.
The affected block had earlier witnessed a staircase collapse in July 2026 and was subsequently declared unsafe. Of its six quarters, three were vacant and three occupied by licensed allottees. One allottee recently shifted to alternative accommodation, while two continued to reside there despite repeated notices.
Following the partial collapse, BSL officers visited the site to assess the situation and review the safety conditions. A confrontation subsequently took place between local residents and BSL officers over the unsafe structure and relocation of occupants.
BSL has once again appealed to residents of all declared unsafe blocks to vacate the premises and shift to safer accommodation. A special support team will assist occupants in the relocation process, the management said.
The partial collapse, though resulting in no casualties, has underscored the urgency of the ongoing safety measures and the need for occupants to cooperate with the relocation drive.
