The CID on Monday arrested former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairman L. Khyangte from his residence in connection with alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC examination.
Khyangte had been questioned by the investigating agency four times since July 28. During the questioning, the CID reportedly sought details about the conduct of the examination, selection of the outsourced agency, alleged irregularities in the examination process and the role of the commission.
The agency had earlier conducted searches at Khyangte’s government residence on Kanke Road and at the JPSC office. Several documents were reportedly seized during the investigation.
Meanwhile, the CID on Sunday questioned former JPSC member Ajita Bhattacharya, who had resigned from the commission. She had been summoned by the agency a few days earlier.
The CID is also expected to question the other two former members who have resigned — Anima Hansda and Dr Jamal Ahmed — as part of its investigation into the alleged irregularities.
The investigation into the 14th JPSC examination has already led to multiple arrests, with the agency examining the roles of officials, examination-related personnel and the outsourced agency involved in the process.
