Ganesh Reddy Hosts UN Assistant Secretary-General Ms. Sanda Ojiambo

During her Visit to India Mr. Ganesh Reddy, Secretary, UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI) and Secretary-cum-CEO, Citizens Foundation, had the privilege of representing UN GCNI and hosting Ms. Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and CEO & Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) during her two-day visit to India in Mumbai.

During the visit, Mr. Ganesh Reddy participated in a series of high-level interactions organised by UN GCNI and had the honour of presenting a memento to Ms. Ojiambo on behalf of the Network as a token of appreciation and respect for her outstanding leadership in promoting responsible business and sustainable development across the world.

The visit brought together leaders from business, finance, academia and other key sectors to discuss how stronger partnerships can help accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Over the two days, discussions focused on sustainability in global supply chains, the role of Indian MSMEs in responsible business, leadership commitments to sustainability, climate and ESG challenges in the banking and financial sector, and the importance of collaboration between businesses, policymakers and civil society.

The programme also included the India SDG Leadership Forum 2026, which served as an important platform for sharing ideas and strengthening partnerships for sustainable development. During his interaction with Ms. Ojiambo, Mr. Ganesh Reddy discussed ways to further strengthen the relationship between the United Nations Global Compact and UN Global Compact Network India.

The discussions focused on enhancing the value proposition for participating companies, increasing collaboration, and promoting greater engagement between the global leadership and the UN GCNI Governing Board to support responsible business practices in India. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ganesh Reddy said: “It was an honour to represent UN GCNI during Ms. Sanda Ojiambo’s visit to India. Our discussions highlighted the importance of stronger collaboration, greater engagement between the Global Compact and country networks, and creating more value for our members. I am confident that these interactions will further strengthen UN GCNI’s efforts in supporting businesses on their sustainability journey.”

The visit reaffirmed UN GCNI’s commitment to working closely with the United Nations Global Compact and its stakeholders to promote responsible business, encourage sustainable growth and support India’s contribution towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
