Patriotism and institutional excellence marked the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Bokaro Steel Plant, held at Mohan Kumar Mangalam Stadium on Saturday. Director-in-Charge Priya Ranjan unfurled the national flag and reviewed the ceremonial parade. CISF Deputy Inspector General Jitendra Tiwari, senior BSL and CISF officials, employees, children and citizens attended the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Priya Ranjan highlighted SAIL and BSL’s six-decade contribution to India’s industrial growth. He said BSL remains committed not only to business performance but also to improving township infrastructure, healthcare and community facilities.
He highlighted ongoing work to upgrade roads, power supply and residential facilities. Repairs of several key roads have been completed, while work on other roads and residential blocks is underway. Power infrastructure is also being strengthened in phases.
A total of 151 employees were honoured with the Birsa Munda Excellence Award, while 54 CISF and BSL security personnel received commendation certificates.
The celebrations were followed by the inauguration of upgraded facilities at Bokaro General Hospital, including a TMT machine, RO unit for the CCU, neurosurgical drill and integrated powered drill and debrider system. The renovated SAIL Football Academy hostel at the Trainees’ Hostel complex was also inaugurated.
