The Indian Institute of Management Ranchi concluded the second day of its 3rd Doctoral Research Conference (DRC) 2026 with insightful keynote sessions, research presentations, and discussions on the future of management scholarship. The two-day conference provided doctoral scholars from leading institutions an opportunity to present their research, receive expert feedback, and engage in academic exchanges.
The day commenced with a keynote address by Elizabeth Rose, who spoke on the theme, “Crafting an Academic Career: Things I Wish I Had Known When I Was a Research Scholar.” Drawing from her own academic journey, she described academia as a unique and often non-linear path, encouraging scholars to remain resilient, continue writing despite setbacks, and stay committed to lifelong learning.
Prof. Rose highlighted the importance of self-development, ethical research practices, effective time management, and building meaningful academic collaborations. She also interacted with participants during a special session on the research process, followed by presentations by PhD scholars on a range of contemporary research topics.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session addressed by Deepak Kumar Srivastava, who underscored the need to balance research and teaching in management education. He urged scholars to pursue impactful and socially relevant research while embracing opportunities created by emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
A major highlight of the event was the release of IIM Ranchi’s Research & Publication Annual Report 2026. Presenting the report, Manish Bansal revealed that the institute’s faculty published 139 research papers during the year, with 42 per cent appearing in ABDC A+ and A-ranked journals. The research addressed critical themes including AI, sustainability, climate change, healthcare, public policy, digital transformation, and the future of work.
The Best Paper Award was presented to Shubham Kumar Ojha for his study on India’s Rurban Mission. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Anupriya Khan.
