Jharkhand Police tighten security ahead of Jagannathpur Rath Yatra

The Jharkhand Police have stepped up preparations to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the upcoming Jagannathpur Rath Yatra and annual fair, with senior officials reviewing security arrangements at a high-level meeting held with members of the temple committee.
The meeting, chaired by the Additional Director General of Police (South Chotanagpur Range), focused on maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of thousands of devotees expected to participate in the religious event.
Officials discussed the deployment of adequate police personnel, identification of sensitive and high-footfall areas, and physical verification of the Rath Yatra route. Directions were also issued to maintain heightened vigilance throughout the event.
The police also reviewed plans for continuous monitoring of social media and digital platforms to prevent the spread of misinformation. Surveillance through CCTV cameras along the procession route, establishment of a control room, traffic diversion, designated parking facilities, fire safety measures, emergency exit routes, and special arrangements for the safety of women and children were also discussed.
The administration appealed to the public to celebrate the festival in an atmosphere of peace, communal harmony and mutual cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Superintendents of Police (Rural, City and Traffic), Deputy Superintendents of Police, and officers-in-charge of the concerned police stations.
