Lohardaga Municipal Council Chairman Anil Oraon carried out an early morning field inspection across several wards on Monday, travelling on a motorcycle to assess civic infrastructure and public amenities firsthand. Instead of a routine morning walk, the chairman reportedly visited different localities without prior intimation to officials, enabling him to observe the actual ground situation. During the inspection, Oraon visited the area near Bangla Wali Masjid, located at the junction of Wards 2, 3 and 9, where he examined damaged drainage slabs. He observed that the broken slabs posed a potential safety risk to pedestrians and local residents and stressed the need for their prompt repair. The chairman also interacted directly with residents to gather feedback on essential civic services, including drinking water supply, sanitation, drainage, street lighting and other public facilities. Residents reportedly shared their concerns and suggestions openly, while Oraon assured them that the grievances would be addressed at the earliest. According to local residents, the chairman’s practice of making unannounced visits to neighbourhoods has helped bring genuine public issues directly to the attention of the municipal administration while enhancing accountability among officials. Municipal Chairman Anil Oraon said that providing better civic amenities and ensuring the city’s overall development remained his priority. He stated that visiting locations personally and interacting with residents offered a clearer understanding of ground realities than relying solely on office reports. He added that such surprise inspections would continue to ensure timely resolution of even minor civic issues.
