A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and AJSU leaders, led by Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi, visited Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to meet with protesting students. During a 15-minute discussion, Marandi listened to the students’ grievances regarding widespread irregularities in state recruitment exams.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Babulal Marandi fully endorsed the students’ demands, stating that the BJP stands with them “from the streets to the Assembly.”
Marandi emphasized that students are demanding the complete cancellation of affected exams and an immediate CBI probe. He insisted that no compromise would be made on these demands. He alleged that Jharkhand is facing more than just paper leaks; jobs are being sold openly.
Marandi also gave instances of exam specific irregularities such as in Excise Constable Recruitment; candidates were allegedly made to memorize questions in Tamar. In JSSC Exams select candidates who paid money were taken to Ranchi, Bihar, and Nepal to memorize answers to 120 questions that later appeared verbatim in the exams.
Similarly, JPSC Exams results were released in phases without initial cut-off marks. When the High Court intervened, the published cut-offs revealed that several selected candidates had lower marks than non-selected ones. Marandi asserted that every JPSC exam conducted over the past six years is tainted and requires thorough investigation.
“To save Jharkhand from systemic corruption, the Chairman, Exam Controller, and Secretary of both JPSC and JSSC must be immediately dismissed, named in FIRs, and arrested,” said Babulal Marandi.
Marandi warned that individuals buying government positions today will entrench corruption for the next 30 years, hollow out the state, and destroy its future.
He also criticized the Jharkhand government and local administration for their lack of empathy toward students protesting in harsh, rainy conditions, stating that using administrative rules to harass peaceful youth is completely unacceptable.
The delegation included notable leaders such as BJP MLAs C.P. Singh, Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Amar Kumar Bauri, Naveen Jaiswal, Dr. Neera Yadav, and AJSU MLA Nirmal Mahto, among others.
