A mobile legal awareness chariot, Nyaya Rath, was flagged off from the Civil Court premises on Monday to promote child rights and create awareness against child labour across the district.
The initiative, launched jointly by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Dumka, and social organisation Gram Jyoti, was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge-cum-DLSA Chairman Sudhanshu Kumar Shashi in the presence of other judicial officers.
The Nyaya Rath will travel across blocks, panchayats and remote villages to educate people about child protection laws, the prohibition of child labour, juvenile justice provisions, child health and children’s fundamental rights.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal District Judge described child labour as a social evil and urged people to ensure that every child attends school instead of being forced into labour. He called for collective efforts to secure children’s future through education and protection.
The campaign forms part of the DLSA’s ongoing 90-day legal awareness drive, which has already completed 60 days of outreach. Through the mobile campaign, authorities aim to further spread awareness about legal rights, encourage quality education and highlight the harmful effects of child exploitation.
DLSA and Gram Jyoti representatives appealed to the public to immediately report cases of child labour to the concerned authorities for prompt action.
The programme was attended by DLSA Secretary Vivek Kumar, other judicial officers, Gram Jyoti District Coordinator Mukesh Dubey, and Child Helpline representatives Mohammad Samim, Nisha Kumari and Saheen.
