In a significant push toward rural women empowerment and livestock healthcare, the District Public Relations Office, Dumka, has highlighted the impact of the ongoing Livestock Health Promotion Campaign led by Pashu Sakhis across the district. Operating under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), these community animal health workers are playing a pivotal role in making rural women self-reliant while ensuring superior care for local livestock.
During the first quarter of the current financial year, the Pashu Sakhis have successfully launched a massive deworming and immunization drive targeting households involved in goat and poultry farming across all blocks of the Dumka district.
Under this intensive campaign, livestock are being administered crucial vaccines and deworming medicines to shield them from prevalent seasonal diseases. Beyond clinical interventions, the Pashu Sakhis are actively conducting village-level awareness camps, educating livestock rearers on optimal animal health, nutrition, and effective disease management.
Local officials stated that this dual-pronged strategy is not only boosting livestock productivity in the region but is also heavily fortifying the livelihood and financial independence of rural women in Dumka.
