Ranchi

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Ranchi, organised a special one-day awareness camp on Tuesday to mark MSME Day, bringing together bankers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders to discuss measures aimed at strengthening the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector.

Dr. Shailaja Singh, General Manager, RBI Central Office, Mumbai, attended the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, she highlighted the crucial role played by the MSME sector in contributing to India’s GDP, exports and employment generation. She said the sector is vital for building a strong national economy and empowering people through entrepreneurship.

Dr. Singh informed participants that under RBI’s latest guidelines, banks are now required to take credit decisions on loan applications of up to ₹25 lakh for micro and small enterprises within 14 working days. She urged banks and other stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with the timelines.

Deputy General Manager, RBI Ranchi, said the MSME sector plays a key role in employment generation, entrepreneurship development, export promotion and balanced regional growth. He noted that outstanding credit to the MSME sector in Jharkhand crossed the ₹50,000-crore mark during 2025-26 and stood at ₹51,020 crore as of March 31, 2026.

Officials from RBI, MSME-DFO and State Bank of India conducted technical sessions for participants. Entrepreneurs also shared their journeys, struggles and success stories, inspiring those present.

General managers and senior officials from NABARD, the State Level Bankers’ Committee, Bank of India, Indian Bank and other institutions also addressed the gathering. Lead district managers, branch managers and entrepreneurs participated in the programme, while exhibition stalls showcasing products from banks and local enterprises were set up at the venue.
