The Bokaro Press Club on Wednesday organised a condolence meeting at Circuit House to pay tribute to journalist Arvind Sharma, the Press Trust of India (PTI) district correspondent and one of the founding members of the club. Journalists, district administration officials and senior executives of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) attended the meeting and termed his demise an irreparable loss to Bokaro’s media fraternity.
Floral tributes were paid to the late journalist, followed by a two-minute silence. Speakers remembered Sharma as a humble, unbiased and dedicated journalist whose commitment to ethical reporting earned him widespread respect.
District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar said Sharma’s simple life and dedication to journalism would continue to inspire young journalists. BSL Chief of Communications Manikant Dhan described him as an honest and committed journalist whose professionalism and gentle nature would always be remembered. Senior Managers of the BSL Public Relations Department, Abhinav Shankar and Ravi Kumar Sinha, also paid tribute.
Speakers also recalled Sharma’s passion for investigative journalism, fighting spirit and cordial nature. Journalists, BSL officials, district administration personnel and prominent citizens expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
Sharma passed away recently while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chandrapura after battling a heart ailment, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Bokaro journalism.
