A 32-year-old postgraduate first-year student of the Surgery Department at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Dr. Sanu Sanal Barwar, was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Saturday. His body was recovered from a house near Kathal More under Nagri police station limits, sending shockwaves across the medical community.
Dr. Barwar was the son of former Health Department Director Dr. Himanshu Shekhar. His sudden death has left family members, colleagues, doctors, and students at RIMS in deep grief.
According to police and family sources, the body was found in a suspicious condition, following which local police reached the spot and sent it to RIMS for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report. Police are also questioning family members and acquaintances.
This incident has raised further concern as it is the second such case involving a RIMS student within the past 14 days. Earlier, on May 16, 2026, a second-year MBBS student, Akshit Kujur, was found hanging in his hostel room.
