The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) on Thursday strengthened efforts to connect businesses from the Kolhan region with international markets by facilitating exclusive one-to-one meetings between local entrepreneurs and senior officials of the Sharjah Airport International Free (SAIF) Zone, Government of Sharjah, UAE. The interaction, organised in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), concluded with renewed optimism over expanding trade and investment ties between Jamshedpur and the United Arab Emirates.
The business meetings, held at Golmuri, enabled entrepreneurs from a wide range of sectors to engage directly with the visiting delegation on opportunities for establishing operations, expanding exports and entering markets across the Middle East. The discussions focused on the advantages offered by Sharjah’s business ecosystem and the support available to Indian companies seeking an overseas presence.
Officials from the SAIF Zone highlighted the incentives designed to attract international investors, including industrial plots, ready-to-use warehouses, labour accommodation and modern infrastructure. They also emphasised key benefits such as zero customs duty, zero income tax, resident visa facilities, assistance in opening local bank accounts and company incorporation within just 60 minutes, making Sharjah an attractive destination for Indian enterprises.
The delegation informed participants that more than 8,500 companies are currently operating within the SAIF Zone, nearly 60 per cent of them Indian-owned, reflecting the growing confidence of Indian businesses in the UAE. They added that this was their fifth visit to Jamshedpur, underscoring Sharjah’s sustained interest in building long-term commercial partnerships with industries in the Kolhan region.
Entrepreneurs actively participated in the interactive sessions, seeking detailed information on investment procedures, export logistics, regulatory requirements and business opportunities across the Gulf region. The exchange allowed participants to gain practical insights into the process of setting up operations in the UAE while exploring avenues for international collaboration.
SCCI President Manav Kedia said the interaction had created a valuable platform for regional industries to establish global connections and diversify their markets. He expressed confidence that the engagement would encourage more businesses from Jharkhand to explore overseas expansion and strengthen their international footprint.
The programme concluded with SCCI expressing gratitude to FICCI and the Government of Sharjah for bringing global investment opportunities directly to entrepreneurs in Jamshedpur. The Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to organising similar initiatives in the future to promote exports, attract investment and enhance the global competitiveness of industries from the Kolhan region.
