To facilitate the movement of pilgrims during the upcoming Shravani Mela, South Eastern Railway has announced the operation of two pairs of special trains between Ranchi and Bhagalpur, offering enhanced connectivity to devotees travelling to the Baba Baidyanath Dham region.
According to the schedule, train number 08690 Ranchi–Bhagalpur Special will operate every Sunday and Wednesday from July 26 to September 9, 2026. The train will depart from Ranchi at 5:40 pm and arrive at Bhagalpur at 6:30 am the following day. On the return journey, 08689 Bhagalpur–Ranchi Special will run every Monday and Thursday from July 27 to September 10, 2026, leaving Bhagalpur at 9:10 am and reaching Ranchi at 10:20 pm the same day.
En route, the train will halt at Muri, Bokaro Steel City, Chandrapura, NSCB Gomoh, Parasnath, Hazaribagh Road, Koderma, Tilaiya, Nawadah, Warisliganj, Sheikhpura, Luckeesarai, Kiul, Abhaipur, Jamalpur, and Sultanganj stations.
The second pair, 08646 Ranchi–Bhagalpur Special, will run every Monday and Friday from July 27 to September 11, 2026. The train will depart Ranchi at 5:30 pm and reach Bhagalpur at 6:30 am the next day. Its return service, 08645 Bhagalpur–Ranchi Special, will operate every Tuesday and Saturday from July 28 to September 12, 2026, departing Bhagalpur at 9:10 am and arriving in Ranchi at 9:40 pm the same day.
This special train will stop at Barkakana, Hazaribagh Town, Koderma, Tilaiya, Nawadah, Warisliganj, Sheikhpura, Luckeesarai, Kiul, Abhaipur, Jamalpur, and Sultanganj stations.
The introduction of these special services is aimed at managing the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the annual Shravani Mela, when lakhs of devotees travel to offer prayers at the revered Baba Baidyanath Temple. The additional trains are expected to provide convenient and comfortable travel options for pilgrims from Jharkhand and adjoining regions.
