Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvania on Saturday chaired a review meeting of the Sports and Tourism Department at the Collectorate Hall, directing officials to expedite pending projects and take strict action against agencies responsible for delays.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of various public welfare and infrastructure development schemes approved during the financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25, along with projects being implemented under the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC).
Expressing concern over delays in execution, Bhuvania stated that no compromise would be tolerated in the quality of development works. He instructed officials to identify agencies failing to perform their responsibilities or causing unnecessary delays and issue immediate show-cause notices against them. He also directed that recommendations be sent to the competent authority for blacklisting such agencies.
Emphasising the timely completion of ongoing projects, the DC instructed officials to ensure that all remaining works are completed transparently and within the stipulated timeframe so that citizens can benefit from improved sports and tourism infrastructure at the earliest.
The Deputy Commissioner also stressed the need to resolve land-related issues affecting the construction of sports grounds and tourism facilities. He directed officials to work in close coordination with Circle Officers for the identification and demarcation of suitable sites and to prevent projects from being delayed due to administrative hurdles.
Expressing strong displeasure over several long-pending schemes, Bhuvania ordered officials to complete such projects on a war footing. He noted that delays lead to wastage of public funds and deprive residents of essential sports and tourism facilities.
Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, District Sports Officer Santosh Kumar, executive engineers of various departments, the Assistant Public Relations Officer and other officials attended the meeting.
