In a major move to improve access to education and promote women’s empowerment, Minister for Minority Welfare and Water Resources Hafizul Hasan on Thursday distributed bicycles to more than 700 students at Aanchi Devi Girls’ Middle School in Madhupur. The bicycles were handed out under the 2026–27 financial year scheme.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said the government is committed to daughters’ education and building their self-reliance. “This bicycle distribution scheme aims to remove the difficulties faced by girls who travel from remote areas to attend school. Receiving a bicycle will save time and help reduce dropout rates,” he said, adding that daughters are the pride of society and educating and empowering them is a government priority.
Students were visibly delighted on receiving the bicycles. School officials and parents praised the welfare initiative and thanked the Minister. The programme was also attended by the Sub-Divisional Officer of Madhupur, the District Welfare Officer, the Block Development Officer, the Circle Officer and other officials and staff.
