Jamshedpur is set to get a major boost to its urban transport infrastructure with the Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company Limited (JUIDCO) floating a tender for the construction of a modern Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Dimna. The project, estimated at ₹153.37 crore, aims to provide passengers with an airport-like travel experience while emerging as a key transport and commercial hub.
The ISBT will be developed on a 13.7-acre site between Pardih and Dimna Chowk under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode using the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model.
The bidding process has commenced, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for July 13. Online bids can be submitted until August 3, while technical bids will be opened on August 4. Karnataka-based consultancy Ideck has prepared the master plan, dividing the project into transport and administrative zones.
The terminal will feature 23 bus bays, a dedicated command and control centre, organised passenger movement areas and separate entry and exit points to ensure smooth traffic flow. It will also include an idle parking facility for 48 buses, a maintenance workshop, and two underground parking levels accommodating about 130 cars and 110 two-wheelers.
Designed as more than just a bus terminal, the complex will house a three-storey commercial centre with 53 retail outlets, cafés, family restaurants, a food court, two multiplex theatres with seating for 250 each, and a multipurpose hall.
Passenger amenities will include spacious waiting halls, air-conditioned VIP lounges, cloakrooms, digital information kiosks, clean drinking water, first-aid facilities, a dedicated mother’s room and accessible infrastructure for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
Of the total project area, 9.89 acres have been allocated for the ISBT, while the remaining 3.81 acres will be used for constructing a multi-storey office building for the Water Resources Department, which has already granted the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the project.
