BOKARO
Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has strengthened its education and skill development initiatives under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to empower displaced families and local youth through technical training and enhanced employment opportunities.
A key component of this initiative is the Bokaro Private ITI, run by the Bokaro Steel Educational Trust. The institute provides industry-oriented technical education, skill development and on-the-job training to prepare youth for industrial careers.
As part of its inclusive approach, 40 per cent of seats at Bokaro Private ITI are reserved for candidates from displaced families, who receive training free of cost. The institute currently offers courses in Electrician, Fitter and Welder trades, with plans to introduce COPA, Diesel Mechanic, and Fire Technology & Industrial Safety Management. Since its inception, 2,149 students have enrolled under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) Regular and CTS Dual programmes.
BSL also conducts campus recruitment-cum-placement drives, connecting trainees with employment opportunities in leading PSUs and companies such as Honda Motorcycle, Spark Minda, Exide and TVS.
A unique feature of the institute is the on-the-job training provided in various departments of Bokaro Steel Plant, giving trainees valuable industrial exposure and setting it apart from other ITIs in Jharkhand.
Through these CSR initiatives, BSL continues to enhance the employability of local youth while reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and community development.
