Delhi Public School (DPS), Bokaro, concluded its four-day cultural festival ‘Dharohar’ on Friday with an inter-house dance competition that showcased a unique blend of Indian classical and international dance forms.
Chief guest Rajshree Banerjee, Executive Director (Human Resources), Bokaro Steel Plant, and Pro Vice Chairperson of the DPS Bokaro Managing Committee, said art and culture keep people connected to their roots and must be preserved. She noted that art transcends boundaries, unites people across cultures, and enriches society.
Appreciating the students’ performances, Banerjee said academic excellence alone should not be the ultimate goal of life. She encouraged students to explore their talents, adding that music, dance and cultural activities are essential for a balanced and stress-free life.
Principal Dr A. S. Gangwar said the Dharohar festival strengthened students’ connection with Indian heritage while broadening their global outlook. He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to the holistic development of every child.
The competition featured impressive fusions of Indian classical dance forms with traditional dances from China, the United States, Russia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Spain, earning loud applause from the audience.
Jamuna House and Chenab House emerged as joint winners, while Ganga House and Satluj House secured the joint second position. Jhelum House and Ravi House shared the third place.
Earlier, Satluj House won the inter-house group singing competition, with Chenab and Jhelum Houses jointly securing second place, followed by Jamuna and Ravi Houses in third.
