Amity University Jharkhand hosts National Media Conclave

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Amity University Jharkhand organized the National Media Conclave 2026 on July 9 under the theme, “Beyond the Newsroom: Bridging the Talent Gap through Industry–Academia Immersion.” The event brought together leading journalists, media professionals, filmmakers, public relations experts, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and students to discuss the changing media landscape and strengthen collaboration between academia and the media industry.
Padma Shri recipient Balbir Dutt, Founder and Editor of Desh Pran, attended as the Chief Guest. Emphasizing the importance of journalism in democracy, he said media remains a vital pillar of society and urged aspiring journalists to “read, read, read, and write, write, write” to develop their skills. He also expressed confidence that artificial intelligence cannot replace human intellect and highlighted the bright future of media in India.
Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok K. Srivastava reinforced the message by encouraging students to “Think, Read and Write,” adding that journalism is about building trust, strengthening democracy, and upholding the spirit of Satyamev Jayate.
The conclave featured two panel discussions on bridging the academia-industry gap and emerging media entrepreneurship opportunities. Eminent editors, journalists, media entrepreneurs, filmmakers, and public relations professionals shared their insights with participants.
The event also included interactive sessions with experts and a screening of Palayan, an award-winning short film by JMC students Vivek Tigga and Aryan Kumar.
