Five-day Cyber Crime investigation training kicks off

June 9, 2026

PNS

Ranchi

A five-day specialised training programme on cybercrime investigation commenced on Monday at the Research and Training School in Hotwar, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of Jharkhand Police personnel in tackling digital offences.

The programme is being conducted by three experienced trainers from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. It was formally inaugurated by Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Sinha.

The training will cover a wide range of critical topics, including digital payment-related frauds, evidence collection at crime scenes, social media-related offences, analysis of CDR/IPDR data, as well as emerging areas such as the dark web, cryptocurrency, and modern cyber investigation techniques.

A total of 78 officers and personnel from various units of the Jharkhand Police are participating in the programme.

Addressing the participants during the inaugural session, SP Ajay Kumar Sinha highlighted the rapid rise in cyber crimes in recent times. He stressed the importance of equipping police personnel with the latest investigative tools and techniques to effectively combat such offences.

He further noted that the training is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of officers in handling cyber crime cases at the ground level. The programme includes participants ranging from constables to police inspectors, ensuring capacity building across different ranks of the force.

Officials believe that such initiatives will significantly improve the ability of the police to investigate and respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
