The Jharkhand government has taken a major step to strengthen healthcare monitoring and administrative efficiency across the state. The Department of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare has approved a plan to install video conferencing systems in hospitals and health centres for the financial year 2026–27, with an estimated expenditure of over ₹11.62 crore.
Under the project, modern video conferencing facilities will be set up in 233 health institutions, including 5 medical colleges and hospitals, 24 district hospitals, 13 subdivisional hospitals, and 191 community health centres.
The government aims to improve real-time communication between the state headquarters and remote health facilities. The system is expected to enhance review meetings, policy monitoring, and coordination of healthcare programmes more effectively.
As per official documents, each installation will cost around ₹4.99 lakh and will include a 75-inch interactive display, USB camera, omnidirectional microphone, and necessary wiring infrastructure.
The Jharkhand Medical and Health Infrastructure Development and Procurement Corporation Limited has been assigned the responsibility for implementation and procurement. The department has clarified that institutions already equipped with such systems will not receive duplicate installations.
Civil surgeons and medical superintendents will be responsible for the maintenance and security of the equipment.
Officials said the initiative is expected to improve transparency, strengthen administrative efficiency, and ensure faster coordination across the state’s healthcare network.
