The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi on Tuesday inaugurated a five-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on Project Management and Execution Excellence for executives of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) and NTPC.
The programme was inaugurated by IIM Ranchi Director Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, PVUNL Chairman and NTPC Director (Projects) K. Shanmugha Sundaram, PVUNL CEO Ashok Kumar Sehgal, AGM (HR) Ziaur Rahman, and senior faculty members.
Welcoming the participants, Prof. Amit Sachan, Dean of Executive Education and Consulting, said the programme has been designed to strengthen the strategic and project management capabilities of executives, enabling them to effectively manage complex organisational challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Srivastava highlighted the role of management education in supporting public sector undertakings (PSUs) and nation-building. He stressed that successful project management is rooted in an organisation’s mission, vision and core values, while strategic thinking and effective leadership are essential for future growth.
PVUNL CEO Ashok Kumar Sehgal said the programme aims to develop next-generation project leaders by equipping executives with contemporary skills and global perspectives. He emphasised that safety, speed and sustainability are the three pillars of a successful workplace.
NTPC Director (Projects) K. Shanmugha Sundaram underlined the importance of continuous skill enhancement and sound decision-making in the rapidly evolving energy sector, noting that project managers play a critical role in meeting industry demands.
Programme Director Prof. Manish Bansal outlined the five-day curriculum, while Prof. Nitin Singh welcomed over 30 executives from NTPC and PVUNL plants across the country and encouraged them to make the most of the training.
