In a bid to accelerate financial inclusion and drive digital literacy at the grassroots level, the main branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Dumka organized a comprehensive financial literacy and digital banking orientation program. The workshop was specially curated for women members of the Sakhi Mandal, functioning under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS). A large gathering of women entrepreneurs and SBI account holders actively participated in the session, showcasing a strong eagerness to transition toward modern banking systems.
During the interactive session, senior banking officials provided detailed insights into the bank’s digital ecosystem, highlighting user-friendly platforms such as mobile banking, WhatsApp banking, and internet banking. To demystify these virtual tools, the bank team conducted live demonstrations, guiding the women step-by-step through secure transaction processes. The officials underscored that embracing digital banking minimizes the need for frequent physical visits to branches, thereby saving crucial time and bringing banking convenience straight to their doorsteps.
Addressing the potential risks associated with online financial transactions, the organizers held a dedicated segment on cybersecurity. The participants were sensitized about keeping their banking credentials confidential, with officials highlighting the critical importance of never sharing One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or personal account details with anyone.
Welcoming the initiative, the attendees expressed keen interest in integrating these digital tools into their daily routines and business management. SBI officials reiterated their commitment to organizing similar outreach programs, asserting that such grassroots initiatives are vital to bridging the digital divide, empowering rural women, and fostering sustainable economic development in the region.
