SBPS promotes holistic living through Yoga

June 20, 2026

Ranchi

Sarala Birla Public School (SBPS), Ranchi, celebrated International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm through a series of activities aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic development among students and teachers.

The celebrations began with a yoga session for teachers, who practised various asanas, breathing techniques and relaxation exercises, highlighting the importance of wellness and self-care in everyday life.

A special assembly was organized on the occasion, featuring an impressive yoga demonstration by students. Showcasing precision, coordination and discipline, the participants performed a range of yoga postures while emphasizing the role of yoga in achieving physical strength, mental balance and inner peace. Students also delivered speeches on the significance of International Yoga Day and the relevance of yoga in contemporary life. An interactive quiz on yoga added to the engagement, helping students learn about its history, philosophy and health benefits.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Inter-House Rhythmic Yoga Competition, where teams creatively combined yoga postures with synchronized movements and rhythm. The event reflected teamwork, flexibility and artistic expression.

A mass yoga display involving students from Nursery to Class XII was also organized. Hundreds of students performed yoga asanas in unison, creating a striking display of harmony and discipline. Poster-making and slogan-writing activities further encouraged students to express their understanding of yoga and spread awareness about healthy living.

The celebrations were enriched by the participation of SBPS students and teachers in “Times of Yoga,” a mega event organized by The Times of India at Sarala Birla University.

Principal Manisha Sharma encouraged students to adopt yoga as a daily habit, describing it as a powerful tool for managing stress, improving concentration and fostering a healthy lifestyle.
